El Mizan means "the balance" or the balance "in the Arabic language, but also" the
groove ”in the jargon of North African musicians.
The group is first and foremost the dream and the goal of the trip of the Algerian mandolist Anouar Kaddour Chérif who landed in the spring of 2017 in Switzerland, with a North African musical background (chaâbi, raï, maalouf ...) to the search for a new fusion, wishing to shed light on traditional knowledge from a new angle. From traditional music to contemporary savagery, oriental scales blend with western rhythms, or vice versa, in a highly flammable solution. The nectar thus obtained is called MAGHROCK !!
